A long overdue pic for Abel and Caine because they're awesome. And Oni's just thrown into the middle. Have some closeups! It's a dark image, both in theme and colors. But I was having trouble finding a balance between something that looks dark on my screen but also light enough so people with darker screen settings don't just see black as there is quite a bit of detail.. I wanted to do a tribal image but I didn't want to go for the old hat Native American theme. So I decided to go for an African Lion Zulu Warrior. I had never drawn an anthro lion so it was fun to try something new.

Digital Commission - Preyfar by Spirit Creations

First off, wow! Dragoneer, of all people, bought one of my auctions on FurBid. Can I say how honored I feel? He's a great artist in his own right. Second off, I've always loved his character, "Preyfar," and was so excited to do a piece involving this character! So here is Preyfar running along side a spotted hyena in the serengeti. This piece ended up being so big that my comp ran slow while I was coloring it. 20-something hours of coloring, 20-something hours of African music, and 41 layers later, and we have a new Preyfar piece! Diadexxus asked about a fursuit concept sketch for a kangaroo/raccoon cross, so I did a more finished-up sketch for her while trying to think of something to draw over at Higgins' place. Also a quick doodle of Bosco, a bear suit concept I'm toying with.

I have a grey fox plushy that has a little book attached to her ear which gives a rough translation of the Miwok tribe's creation myth. Grey Fox decides to create the earth so she makes a little clump of dirt, then gets Coyote to help her sing and dance until it becomes huge and filled with thing that interest her. I thought it would make a great painting, so I painted it.

This piece still needs some tweaking and some add ons, but is almost finished. I really love circular motifs and enigmatic backdrops with near ethereal creatures. I also like to use words like "enigmatic" and "ethereal". Scintillate is a pretty awesome word that I can't use here. Apparently full blooded wolves do not have blue eyes. I think this creature transcends such earthly bindings like genetic pigmentation. Ha!
